Grading Policy for SP1 – Mr. Langan

Your final mark reflects your achievement in learning science and your effort in doing assignments. Your teacher first calculates a raw average of your grades. Teachers may or may not decide to drop low grades in this calculation. Then, adjustments are made to your raw average based on your participation and improvement to determine your final class mark.

ACHIEVEMENT (60%)

Tests - 40%

Quizzes- 20%

Formal lab reports & lab homework - 20%

Portfolio or term project - 10%

Homework - 10%

Lab attendance together with lab reports or lab homework are required by law to be eligible to take a science Regents examination. Students lacking these will be barred from the exam. Your portfolio or term project is also part of the Regents mark you obtain in June. Timely, excellent work brings many rewards!
